     Mark Daly

Mark Daly is a founder of Education Investment Group, LLC. 


With over 16 years in the student loan industry, Mr. Daly most recently led Sallie Mae’s ABS deal execution functions as SVP of Corporate Finance, averaging $30 billion annually of new issuance since 2003. He also established and managed the Asset-Backed Commercial Paper (ABCP) programs for the company, securing $34 billion of ABCP funding in February, 2008. 


Mr. Daly’s extensive knowledge of the unique structural and operational aspects of student loan trusts, servicing and management platforms provides clients singular insight into the opportunities and considerations in the education lending space, across diverse FFELP and Private structures such as reset rate notes, auction rate notes, long-dated term notes, foreign currency and basis swaps, and variable rate demand notes. 


His former responsibilities included the management Sallie Mae and other 3rd
party-serviced portfolios, as well as the integration of seven student loan companies acquired by Sallie Mae, much of whose funding was concentrated in Auction Rate Securities. Mr. Daly was also integral to the strategic planning and operational execution functions related to the wind down of Sallie Mae’s GSE in 2004. He has long-standing relationships with the all major investment banks, investors, and rating agencies. 


Prior to joining Sallie Mae in 1992, Mr. Daly analyzed and evaluated real estate joint ventures for Perpetual Real Estate Services in McLean, VA. 

         Mr. Daly holds a B.A. degree in economics and organizational behavior management
         from Brown University and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Maryland. 


     Guido van der Ven

Guido van der Ven is a founder of Education Investment Group, LLC.  


He most recently headed all asset-backed and debt capital markets investor development and regulatory relations functions at Sallie Mae as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance.  With over 19 years in the student loan industry, Mr. van der
Ven’s expertise spans all aspects of ABS issuance including regulatory, swap, structural, and term funding program components; providing clients unparalleled insight on assessing portfolio valuations, secondary markets opportunities, restructuring, and platform analysis. 


Mr. van der Ven was also instrumental in the wind down of Sallie Mae’s former GSE, which was dissolved in 2004. By broadening Sallie Mae’s debt investor relationships across the United States, Europe and Asia, he facilitated the refinancing over $150 billion of agency debt. Under his tenure, the company became a major ABS and senior-unsecured corporate debt issuer; and in 2003,
Euromoney granted it the “best corporate borrower” award. 


He is an active contributor to the American Securitization Forum (ASF), with former duties as member of the board of directors (2004-2006); and as co-chairman of the ASF’s Student Loan Working Group (2006-2008). He has long-standing relationships with the all major investment banks, investors, and rating agencies. 


Prior to 1989, Mr. van der Ven served as an Economist with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.  He also worked in the asset-backed securities services group at Chemical Bank. 


Mr. van der Ven holds a B.A. degree in economics from SUNY
Geneseo, a M.A. in Economics from Binghamton University and an M.B.A. in finance and investments from The Washington University.
